DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to advance process-based crop modeling for rice from field to regional scales. The postdoc will lead calibration, validation, and applications of DSSAT (CERES-Rice) or similar models to quantify yield and climate risk using historical observations, field measurements, and CMIP6 climate projections. Responsibilities span model‑data integration, uncertainty analysis, and decision‑focused products (including refereed publications) for growers and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications- A PhD degree is required at the time of application.
- Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience with process‑based crop models.
- Experience in analyzing climate datasets (e.g., CMIP6).
- Strong record of refereed publications, excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to work both independently and in teams.
- Hands‑on experience with rice systems (management practices, cultivar parameters, and phenology).
- Hands‑on experience with DSSAT CERES‑Rice and/or similar models (APSIM) – calibration and sensitivity/uncertainty analysis, and batch/regional simulation.
- Strong academic training in GIS and using various remote sensing techniques.
- Strong research experience in process‑based modeling and using remote sensing products.
- Strong programming skills (e.g., Python and Fortran) is a must.
