Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to advance process-based crop modeling for rice from field to regional scales. The postdoc will lead calibration, validation, and applications of DSSAT (CERES-Rice) or similar models to quantify yield and climate risk using historical observations, field measurements, and CMIP6 climate projections. Responsibilities span model-data integration, uncertainty analysis, and decision-focused products (including refereed publications) for growers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A PhD degree is required at the time of application.
  • Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with process-based crop models.
  • Experience in analyzing climate datasets (e.g., CMIP6).
  • Strong record of refereed publications, excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to work both independently and in teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with rice systems (management practices, cultivar parameters, and phenology).
  • Hands-on experience with DSSAT CERES-Rice and/or similar models (APSIM) - calibration and sensitivity/uncertainty analysis, and batch/regional simulation.
  • Strong academic training in GIS and using various remote sensing techniques.
  • Strong research experience in process-based modeling and using remote sensing products.
  • Strong programming skills (e.g., Python and Fortran) is a must.
Application Instructions

Application Instructions
1. Cover letter (1-2 pages) summarizing relevant modeling experience.

2. Curriculum vitae with publication list.
