Note: This description reflects an open position for the Custodial Lead at the Clemson University Restoration Institute (CURI) in Charleston, SC. The Lead oversees all custodial activity, performs routine duties in compliance with cleaning procedures and safety rules, and handles duties at all CURI building locations.
Responsibilities- JOB DUTIES:
60% - Essential - Housekeeping:
Performs housekeeping duties (sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, stripping, buffing, sanitizing, restocking). Cleans offices, labs, classrooms, conference rooms, halls, restrooms, activity rooms and breakrooms. Assists in recycling collection and informs customers of recycling opportunities. Clears entrances of snow, ice, and other inclement weather obstacles. Recognizes and reports maintenance and safety issues. - 60% of role (continued) - Maintains overall cleanliness and safety of facilities.
- 20% - Essential - Supplies and Inventory:
Maintains equipment and supplies inventory. Inspects custodial closets to maintain accurate inventory. Requests new products as needed. Stays abreast of equipment-use standards. Performs preventative and routine maintenance on equipment. - 20% - Essential - Supervision:
Manages the recruitment and selection process of custodial staff. Sets schedules, maintains records, and prepares other reports. Trains employees on job responsibilities and conducts regular inspections of performance. Counsels employees as necessary.
- Education - High School or Equivalent
- Work Experience - 1+ years of custodial or groundskeeping experience directly related to the area of employment
- Work Experience - 1+ years of experience performing custodial duties in a higher education and/or professional setting.
- Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations
- Supervises Work of Others - Supervises work of others and may offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments but does not have responsibility for making these decisions.
- No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

- Anticipated Hiring Range: $33,800.00 - $54,000.00
- Salary is dependent upon factors including but not limited to experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

- Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
