Job Summary

Serves as a member of the Extension staff of Clemson University and is responsible for working cooperatively with the Director of the program, state and county staff by planning, developing, and delivering educational leadership and civic engagement programs and activities to youth and adult audiences. Coordinates closely with program director to provide programming, marketing, and personalized communication to 4-H Pinckney Leadership program participants and public stakeholders.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Duties
  • 40% – Essential – Program Management: Plan and implement year‑round programming for 4-H Pinckney Leadership participants. Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activities and materials to accommodate daily schedules for leadership camp, conference, and program events. Responsible for planning activities, housing, meals of weekend and overnight program experiences. Actively recruit and retain youth from all 46 counties of the state.

    Work with the 4-H Pinckney Leadership program director to hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed.
  • 30% – Essential – Program Communication: Maintain appropriate communications and working relationships with local/state school officials, 4-H agents, and 4-H stakeholders in regard to the Pinckney leadership program. Work effectively with parents, school officials, 4-H agents, and staff to champion strategic initiatives. Manages all communication for program (digital media, newsletters, etc.). Serve as a community leader building collaboration based on trust and credibility to advance South Carolina 4-H and Pinckney Leadership mission and goals.

    Develops, reviews, and modifies marketing materials based on program goals and initiatives.
  • 20% – Essential – Program Development: Work with management to create and develop strategies to motivate youth and achieve program outcomes. Maintain knowledge of current best practices in youth development and leadership programming. Assists in implementing and leading planned activities for program participants and community to fulfill the 4-H Pinckney Leadership program objectives. Assist with developing leadership curriculum for high school students.
  • 10% – Essential – Perform other duties as required by the 4-H Pinckney Leadership Director: Serve as a member of the State 4-H staff. Serve as program liaison for 4-H agents and S.C. 4-H Leadership committee. Assist with statewide leadership initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education – Bachelor’s Degree – Relevant program experience.
  • Work Experience – 3+ years working with adolescent youth in educational, youth development, leadership, or mentoring programs. Experience planning, implementing, or supporting group programs, events, or camps.
Job Knowledge

Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises Student Workers only.

Budgetary Responsibilities

No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

Hours:

37.5 hours per week.

Compensation Information

Anticipated Salary Range: $52,100 – $60,000. Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
