Job Summary

Performs and directs a variety of complex administrative duties, manages and coordinates personnel activities for the Public Health Sciences Department, maintains confidential records. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Duties
  • 60% - Essential:
    Payroll and Personnel Record Management:
    Coordinates and manages biweekly payroll for faculty and staff, including intermittent/part-time and student employees using a variety of payroll mechanisms. Responsible for Kronos and timesheet reporting compliance. Collaboratively collects and organizes graduate student assistantship stipend and tuition funding information. Manages employment records from request to acceptance.
  • 20% - Essential:
    Personnel Resource Management:
    Ensures all records are updated, including graduate assistantship contracts, People Soft, and GS61. Organizes, supports, and implements recruitment efforts, assists with search committee tasks. Collaboratively navigates requirements for international employees. Directs new employees through onboarding processes within the department, college, and university.
  • 15% - Essential:
    Business and Data Management:
    Prepares and coordinates sensitive and confidential documents. Maintains official policies, bylaws, procedures, and manuals. Maintains database of employee contacts and adjunct faculty, works closely with the TPR committee and Department Chair on renewal dates assuring uninterrupted appointments. Collaboratively keeps current grant list and budgets to monitor end dates and assure adherence.
  • 5% - Essential:
    Administrative Support:
    Assists Department Chair as needed managing department needs and functions to ensure smooth and seamless operation and inter-department relations. Manages office in absence of the Department Chair. Performs other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education:

    High School or Equivalent. Relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services; a bachelor's degree may substitute for the required work experience.
  • Work Experience:

    2+ years.
Preferred Requirements
  • Education:

    1st Associate's Degree. Relevant experience and training in business management.
  • Work Experience:

    5+ years in business management.
Responsibilities

JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Acts as Lead - guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.

Budgetary Responsibilities

Monitors Budget - Does not provide input but is responsible for monitoring the departmental budget and may oversee fund allocation.

  • 50% - Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period
  • 10% - Walk/move about
  • 40% - Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself

Work Schedule

Standard Hrs: 37.5, Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm

Compensation Information
  • Band: G07 (expected range is $ 39,300.00 - $ 55,000.00)
  • Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
Essential Personnel Level

Normal Operations. Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
