JOB SUMMARY

Serves as the Office Manager for the School of Computing. Provides consistent, front‑line responses to requests, administrative support to the School Director, coordinates complex activities on behalf of the department, oversees personnel and office operations, hiring, and coordinates departmental events. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES
  • 35% - Essential - Executive Assistance
    Provides administrative support to the School Director. Coordinates the School Director's schedule, meetings, and travel. Provides knowledgeable responses to inquiries from outside the school as well as from faculty, staff, students, and guests. Applies policies and procedures while providing support to all that need assistance.
  • 25% - Essential - Office Oversight and Supervision
    Supports the main office in the absence of the Operations Manager. Maintains records for the school in compliance with University Records and Retention Policy. Monitors and provides support for issues related to employee leave.
  • 15% - Essential - Event Planning
    Assists with communication and set up meetings with the Industry Advisory Board. Assists the School of Computing Industry Liaison in communications to industry partners and engagement in the School of Computing. Maintains donor data, and issues proper communication to donors.
  • 15% - Essential - Departmental Hiring and TPR Support
    Initiates all faculty and staff hiring for the school. Applies and interprets University policies and procedures for hiring. Maintains files for the school related to TPR and HR. Serves as liaison with school payroll personnel.
  • 10% - Essential - Business Support
    Approves Buy Ways purchases and payments for the school, grants, and other special projects based on threshold on behalf of School Director as required. Serves as the back up for p‑card purchases. Provides assistance and support to the undergraduate and graduate programs as needed. Provides support to faculty, post‑docs, and graduate teaching assistance for classroom needs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education:

    High School or Equivalent with relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services.
  • Work Experience:

    0+ years.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Education:

    1st Associate's Degree.
  • Education:

    1st Bachelor's Degree.
Responsibilities
  • JOB KNOWLEDGE
    Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use them in varied situations.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    Acts as Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.
  • Budgetary Responsibilities
    Provides input into the budgeting process and oversees fund allocation.

Compensation Information

Expected Pay Range: $39,764.00 - $60,000.00
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Essential Personnel Level

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected to work on‑site during emergency situations.
