Provides administrative and complex support to the State Veterinarian/Director of Livestock-Poultry Health (LPH), the Executive Director of CAFLS, and the Deputy State Veterinarian. Coordinates design, layout, and updates of the LPH website; assists with emergency management responses for animal disaster and disease events. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Job Duties- Administrative Support (50%)
- Scheduling appointments and meetings, note‑taking, answering phones, and hosting conferences.
- Preparing and filing materials with the SC Legislative Council for rule promulgation.
- Issuing marketing permits for Biological Products in SC, preparing annual reports, and maintaining division SOPs.
- Assisting as division HR coordinator and administrative lead.
- Division Website Coordinator (15%)
- Work with the web developer assigned by CAFLS Communications to design, maintain, and update the division's website content.
- Complex Administrative Support (15%)
- Maintain a database of SC accredited veterinarians and respond to inquiries about livestock identification and traceability.
- Design, issue, and distribute forms and cards; process exceptions and develop/updating SOPs and FAQs.
- Assist with education and outreach, including display design and training of assistants.
- Promotional Content & Presentation (10%)
- Prepare newsletters, displays, and other promotional materials; represent the division at trade shows and conventions.
- Regularly update social media platforms (Facebook, X, You Tube).
- Emergency Management Program Support (10%)
- Complete annual training and exercises for the state emergency operations center and incident management team.
- Perform ESF‑17 duties as needed and participate in the agricultural animal incident management team during disasters.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of related work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Business Administration, Communication or Marketing.
Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures relevant to the role.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesActs as a lead by guiding the work of others performing similar duties.
Budgetary ResponsibilitiesNo fiscal responsibility for the department’s budget.

Compensation InformationExpected salary range: $39,764.00 – $52,600.00; dependent on experience, knowledge, skills, and performance.
