Repair and Tool Technician role at The Home Depot
. This position is responsible for the evaluation and repair of small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices. The technician makes equipment recommendations and ensures that units are maintained. Technicians work in stores with Tool Rental Centers and in repair centers. In-store duties include providing service to Tool Rental customers, writing contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, verifying that tools operate properly, and demonstrating proper use as needed.
Technicians also support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the tool rental department. In non-store locations, technicians ensure units are repaired, tested for quality, and cleaned prior to returning to the originating store. Technicians must have thorough knowledge of all tools and effectively manage tool inventory by maintaining and repairing tools as necessary.
- Provide service to Tool Rental customers and handle related contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs
- Assess tool condition, verify proper operation, and demonstrate proper use as needed
- Repair, test, and clean units to quality standards
- Maintain and manage tool inventory; perform repairs as necessary
- Support day-to-day operations and maintenance of equipment in the Tool Rental department
- Coordinate with stores or repair centers to return repaired units
- Thorough knowledge of tools and equipment
- Ability to manage tool inventory and conduct repairs
- Experience with small engines, outdoor power equipment, and handheld electrical devices
