Customer Service Representative/Inside Sales Representative

Daikin Comfort Technologies Distribution, Inc., located in Clearwater, FL, is seeking a professional, skilled individual to join our Branch Operations team as a Customer Service/Inside Sales Representative. The role involves selling our HVAC products and services to prospective and established customers through phone, email, fax, or in‑person interactions. The CSR/ISR will manage customer needs, provide solutions, and facilitate a smooth and efficient sales process from order entry through delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Build branch sales and support new business by maintaining house accounts and communicating new product launches, services, pricing, and discounts through outbound calls and in‑house counter discussions.
  • Conduct outbound calls for existing and lost customer accounts.
  • Maintain sales programs within assigned territory, keeping customers informed about services, supplies, and new products.
  • Provide excellent customer service via walk‑ins, phone calls, and e‑mail.
  • Execute all aspects of the sales function: order processing, purchase orders, payment processing, quotes, and delivery dates, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability, or specifications.
  • Obtain and monitor scheduled shipment dates; coordinate with manufacturing, sales, distribution, and vendors to expedite timely delivery.
  • Generate new and repeat sales by providing product and technical information promptly.
  • Educate customers about product terminology, features, and benefits to improve sales and satisfaction.
  • Provide accurate information on in‑stock availability; conduct cycle counts and replenish showroom stock as needed.
  • Assist customers with warranties and returns.
  • Collaborate with the Branch Manager to resolve problems and coordinate resolution with appropriate departments.
  • Daily cash drawer processing and end‑of‑shift money count; prepare deposit slips.
  • Periodically reach out to customers to gauge satisfaction with the organization, products, and services.
  • Monitor competitive activity and trends within territory.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports on sales activities.
  • Expand knowledge of HVAC products and stay current with industry trends.
  • Work positively with all management levels and peers to maintain effective teamwork.
  • Follow work instructions, operating procedures, and company policies.
  • May travel to customer locations for follow‑ups, presentations, or demonstrations.
  • Assist in warehouse tasks, including inventory counts and product movement; operate a forklift as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment/products preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and database applications.
  • Effective, high‑quality customer service and relationship management via walk‑ins, phone, and email.
  • Positive, professional attitude with the ability to diffuse difficult situations.
  • Strong rapport‑building, effective listening, phone etiquette, email etiquette, professionalism, patience, poise, and tact.
  • Ability to manage high‑volume customer traffic.
  • Effective verbal skills—ability to explain technical product information clearly.
  • Strong written communication; timely, accurate e‑mail and order entry.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capability to establish positive relationships with internal and external customers and employees.
  • Good judgment and strong work ethics and integrity.
  • Capacity to operate a forklift in the warehouse safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to understand and follow procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
Experience
  • 6+ years of progressive sales and customer service experience (preferred).
  • 6+ years in the HVAC industry (preferred).
Education
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent (some college preferred).
  • HVAC certification preferred.
