Job SummaryResponsible for carrying out the instructions of the Director of Wellness. Supervise and monitor nursing staff to obtain the highest quality care by performing routine nursing duties. Accountable to the Director of Wellness/Executive Director for all nursing department activities and maintaining the corporate philosophy of quality care.
Duties and Responsibilities- Supervise HHAs, CNAs and the facility staff.
- Make daily rounds of all assisted living residents and, if needed, retirement residents.
- Observe and report symptoms and conditions to the Director of Wellness or delegated R.N./Physician.
- Administer medications and treatments per signed doctor's orders accurately and safely.
- Inform DOW of supplies and equipment needed; order medication from pharmacy when required.
- Supervise the Home Health Aide to ensure nursing care is given properly and safely.
- Administer emergency first aid.
- Ensure daily assignments for patient care and incidental duties are carried out and documented.
- Maintain cleanliness of nurse’s station, med room, and cart.
- Assist in orientation of new staff.
- Complete admission and discharge evaluations as necessary.
- Check equipment for cleanliness.
- Provide guidance for nursing assistants.
- Promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors, and personnel.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program, currently licensed to practice per state.
- Work experience in the geriatric field.
- Strong clinical skills and a passion for working with older adults.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable.
- Ability to communicate well in writing.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 60 lbs.
- Must be able to work under pressure at times, perform good grooming practices, and be punctual.
- Must have a warm, friendly, and empathetic demeanor toward seniors.
- CPR certified, or obtained within 90 days of hire and renewed yearly.
- May have picture taken for use in social media or community advertising; may be video recorded from devices installed by families.
