Plant Manager

Lead a high-performing ready-mix operation and shape the success of our concrete production and delivery teams. This role is ideal for an experienced plant leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values safety, and knows how to build strong, motivated crews. Your leadership directly drives on-time delivery, plant uptime, product quality, and customer satisfaction.

What You ll Do
Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, coach, and support drivers, dispatch, and plant personnel.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on safety, productivity, and customer service.
  • Oversee daily workforce planning, performance, attendance, and discipline (in coordination with Regional and Driver Managers).
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping, reporting, and compliance with company policies.
Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Champion all safety programs and conduct daily Take 5 meetings.
  • Perform routine safety inspections and ensure proper equipment maintenance.
  • Manage stormwater/spill prevention and support incident investigations.
  • Maintain required Greenstar and environmental documentation.
Operations & Maintenance
  • Oversee batching operations to meet mix design and job specifications.
  • Coordinate raw material orders and maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicles, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Schedule repairs and ensure all safety equipment is functional.
Quality Assurance
  • Perform and document daily product testing.
  • Maintain stockpiles to IDOT standards and ensure moisture probe calibration.
  • Communicate proactively with Quality Control on mix variations.
  • Maintain daily logs and operational records.
Customer Service & Business Support
  • Partner with Customer Service and Sales to ensure exceptional service.
  • Uphold KPI tracking, housekeeping standards, and professional communication.
  • Represent the company professionally when addressing customer needs or concerns.
What You Bring
  • 3+ years of Ready Mix Concrete experience (required).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; experience supervising union employees is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of local geography, company products, and industry standards.
  • Ability to problem-solve, make sound decisions under pressure, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Basic computer proficiency (batching, billing, communication systems).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks as needed (walking, climbing, lifting, etc.).
  • Willingness to support other plant locations when needed.
