Senior Linux Administrator

Overview

A client of Insight Global is looking to hire on a Linux Administrator to their team. This position will have a case load, from a customer support team they are taking a percentage of case types that are technical and dont involve content of the customer; 95% is going to be cases, and they will rotate in more project. Other big responsibilities of their job will be troubleshooting, problem solving, tracking down performance issue which are core pieces, creating knowledge artifacts, working with engineering putting them into the bug tracker and getting them fixed.

• Troubleshooting and problem solving to identify root causes.
• Track performance issues and implement fixes.
• Create knowledge artifacts and share with the team.
• Collaborate with engineering to reproduce issues, add them to the bug tracker, and drive fixes.
• Manage a technical case load from a customer support team and rotate into projects as needed.

• Linux - Red Hat based distributions; manage built-in firewalls, services; problem solving to root cause; understanding how Linux logs data and errors; trace problems; and script and automate Linux tasks.
• MySQL - past role as DBA or some DBA duties, manage a database, create queries, decide database strategies.
• Familiarity with Java: a lot of coding in Java, what app is built in; if not Java some type of scripting language that needs to be done, Python, Bash, Go.
• 7 years in a production environment; create SQL queries from scratch.
