School Counselor Position for Academic Year

Position OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and professional School Counselor to join our counseling department. The ideal candidate will uphold ethical and professional standards while effectively implementing and managing a comprehensive guidance and college counseling program that promotes our CCC core values and student success.
School counselors are highly educated, professionally certified individuals who help students succeed in school and plan their career. An integral part of the total education system, school counselors help students form healthy goals, mindsets and behaviors. With the aid of a school counselor, students learn to develop effective collaboration and cooperation skills, to practice perseverance, to develop time management and study skills, and to learn self‑motivation and self‑direction habits (ASCA, School Counselor’s role).
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Provide direct counseling and guidance to students and families.
- Enhance the learning process and promote students' academic, career, and social/emotional development.
- Work with students to achieve optimal personal growth, acquire positive social skills and values, and realize their full academic potential.
- Implement action plans as necessary to support student growth and serve as a liaison between students and faculty.
- College counseling experience with Naviance, Slate, and Common App is strongly recommended to assist students with college applications.
- Master’s Degree in School Counseling
- Certified Professional School Counselor a plus
- National Board‑Certified Counselor (NBCC) a plus
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the state of Florida a plus
- FLDOE Professional Certification in School Counseling
- Excellent counseling, writing, and communication skills.
- A minimum of three years of experience in high school counseling.
- Level II Background Screening
