INDIRECT REPORTS:

Arts Faculty, Summer Staff

POSITION CONCEPT:

The Education Associate serves the Mission, Vision and Values of REH, Inc. by performing administrative and instructional functions of the education department of Ruth Eckerd Hall – The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts (MPH).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Serve as an Instructor for MPH onsite classes.
  • Serve as an Instructor/Teaching Artist for community engagement efforts at partner schools and organizations (offsite).
  • Provide administrative support of MPH programming, as assigned.
  • Provide program information to constituents via phone, email, and face‑to‑face.
  • Adherence to all departmental budgets, as assigned.
  • Assist the Development staff, as required, to cultivate and/or secure contributions.
  • Assist with the preparation of the MPH master schedule.
  • Attend all REH and MPH meetings, as appropriate.
  • Attend all REH and MPH events, as assigned.
  • Professionally represent Ruth Eckerd Hall and The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts at all times.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned (varied per term – fall, winter/spring, summer).
Education/Experiences:
  • Coursework with an emphasis in the arts, arts education, or related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of training in a performing arts environment with production, performance, and/or teaching experience required.
  • Experience working with students of varied ages and abilities highly desired.
  • Administrative experience required – preferably in an arts, educational, or nonprofit environment.
Demonstrated Skills or Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of arts administration/arts education/performing arts required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of project management and culture including flexibility.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of teamwork and shared responsibility.
  • Ability to evaluate artistic and educational value of various programs.
  • Ability to plan and organize tasks, projects, and people for efficiency and simultaneous deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential conversation, correspondence, and records with discretion.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate relevant information in a manner that prompts the desired action.
  • Proficiency in word‑processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to multi‑task and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully with and generate trust from a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to seek out required information.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to maintain good attendance is a condition of employment and a function of this job.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to sit at computer terminal for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel to assigned sites.
  • Ability to operate computer, calculator and other basic office machines.
  • Ability to use telephone.
  • Ability to drive with valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Other:
  • Irregular work hours and days.
  • Must complete and pass Level II Screening.
  • Must successfully complete drug screening.
