SETTING

Camp

GENERAL OVERVIEW
  • Food Service Supper Shift, 4:00-8:00 pm, primarily Sunday – Thursday, some weekends
  • Approximately 20 hours per week from May 26 – August 11
  • Pay $16–$20 per hour
  • Prepare and serve meals for campers and camp staff, clean dishes & kitchen facility, put away food deliveries, and prepare the dining hall for meals
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • No certifications required, training is provided
SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Food Service Staff assists in the preparation and serving of all meals. They also clean dishes, assist in cleaning the kitchen, and prepare the dining hall for each meal, in accordance with all ACA and Iowa Public Health safety requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists in preparation of all meals, including special diets.
  • Ensures foods prepared for special diets are not contaminated with allergens.
  • Ensures kitchen is in accordance with ACA and Iowa Health Department standards.
  • Maintains proper cleaning and storage of all dishes.
  • Maintains a clean kitchen environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Member of GSUSA or willingness to become so.
  • Belief in the mission of GSUSA and GSGI.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of the kitchen and equipment needed for cooking.
  • Familiar with food preparation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Able to walk and stand for long periods of time on trails and walkways.
  • Able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, supplies, and products.
  • Able to work effectively with a wide diversity of staff, volunteers, and girl members.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work day is determined by Food Service Supervisor and/or Camp Director.
  • Extreme weather and temperatures may be encountered daily.
