Overview
The Town of Clayton seeks applicants for a Recreation Program Supervisor (Inclusion & Seniors) in the Parks and Recreation Department. Salary grade SG 110 with a recruitment salary range of $53,522.00 - $66,843.00. Salary offered will be determined based on directly related experience.

The Town of Clayton employs more than 340 full-time staff in areas including police, fire, and electric utilities. Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and conduct a variety of recreation programs for seniors as well as adults, teens, and/or children with disabilities, including classes, sports programs, social gatherings, and special events.
- Secure instructors, assign locations and fees for classes and events, and recruit instructors as needed.
- Be responsible for marketing and promoting program offerings and special events.
- Coordinate and produce program guide information in the Civic Rec system; submit information and photos for seasonal brochures and social media.
- Maintain email lists of subscribers and communicate program updates.
- Coordinate staff, equipment needs, set-ups, take-downs, and clean-ups for programs and events.
- Inspect equipment regularly, order repairs when necessary, and recommend purchases of equipment and supplies.
- Assist with hiring, supervision, training, and evaluation of part-time and seasonal staff.
- Support Inclusion Services within Parks and Recreation, including reviewing Inclusion Support Forms with input from parents/caregivers, staff, and participants when appropriate.
- Observe participants in classroom, program, and league settings; develop inclusion plans and work one-on-one with participants as needed.
- Monitor effectiveness and collaborate with staff, instructors, and caregivers to meet participant needs; provide supportive/adaptive materials and coordinate interpreters as needed.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteer support for programs and special events, including contacting community members and speaking at public events.
- Maintain knowledge of local agencies and resources serving seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- Assist in conducting staff training sessions, including disability awareness, sensitivity, and inclusion training.
- Attend training classes and conferences to maintain current knowledge of trends and best practices in therapeutic recreation programming.
- Oversee and assist with participant registration, recordkeeping, customer service, and other administrative duties as needed.
- Handle special projects and other related duties as assigned.
- Thorough knowledge of planning and implementing programs for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- General knowledge of equipment and supplies required for recreational programs.
- Understanding of therapeutic recreational needs for individuals with intellectual, physical, emotional, and developmental disabilities.
- Ability to organize, supervise, and evaluate the work of others.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
- Skill in making program adaptations and modifications for participants with a variety of disabilities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Management or related major field required.
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.
- Some experience utilizing and operating computers and experience in working with the general public, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable experience in planning, organizing, and supervising programs for seniors and/or individuals with disabilities.
- Depending on the position, the Town may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
