Summary

An Advanced Practice Provider functions as part of the interdisciplinary health‑care team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high‑quality, cost‑effective care to patients within the APP’s scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards.

We are currently searching for an Advanced Practice Provider, preferably with experience, to join our Urology team with Clayton UNC Health. The ideal applicant will be focused on patient‑centered care, motivated, able to multitask, manage a variety of Urological conditions (acute and chronic), and will work as a team alongside surgeons and staff.

The position will span Monday through Friday, clinic and inpatient roles; the hospital and clinic settings are side by side. No OR. Call is minimal. Clinic patients may include, but are not limited to, postoperative patients, common Urological conditions, wound care, foley care, TOVs, cancer surveillance, and triage. Duties will also include responding to patient questions, concerns, and care plans.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform thorough physical assessment, review and interpret diagnostic tests, develop differential diagnoses, and implement treatment plans including prescribing/ordering evidence‑based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines. Maintain concise records and keep up‑to‑date specialty literature knowledge.
  • Educate clients and families regarding medical conditions, treatment, and follow‑up. Collaborate with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity of care. Develop educational materials and provide instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries, and/or students.
  • Provide instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries, and/or students including precepting, shadowing, lectures, training classes, CE, rounds, morning report, and staff meetings. Participate in community/network outreach programs and lead community outreach initiatives.
  • Interact respectfully, courteously, and timely with patients, families, coworkers, and staff. Respond quickly to meet customer needs and resolve problems. Accept responsibility for work outcomes and share workload with the team.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement by identifying and implementing processes for improvement. Consult with management on clinical/system issues, lead interdisciplinary teams, initiate and revise protocols, and develop new clinical programs or services within the department to improve patient care.
Other Information Education Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina.
  • Board certification if required by the Department. DEA registration required.
