Assistant​/Associate Biologist

Clayton

• Perform complex laboratory analysis of plasma and plasma products in a GMP laboratory, including sample accessioning, sample preparation, reagent preparation, testing, result calculation, and quality control of assays and equipment.
• Support assay validation, method transfer, reagent and control qualification, and laboratory maintenance activities as assigned.
• Work with infectious material daily; capable of working in a biological safety cabinet and with a microscope for extended periods.
• Proficient with micropipettes and serological pipettes for dilutions and serial dilutions.
• Perform complex tissue culture assays and maintain cell lines; tissue culture experience is preferred.
• Follow SOPs and oral instructions; maintain precise, legible, and organized documentation.
• Participate in cleaning duties and housekeeping as part of team responsibilities.
• Perform environmental monitoring of fill lines in B300 and SFF and monitor all classified production areas, including sampling of site utility systems.
• Contribute to the Environmental Assurance program to support filling operations 24/7 and provide quality control approval of air flow visualizations; ensure site environmental monitoring remains in control.
• Support production scheduling by ensuring EM staff availability to avoid delays.

• Assistant level: AA or BS in medical technology/clinical laboratory science, or BS in biology, chemistry or related field, plus 6-12 months of applicable laboratory experience. Background in medical technology/clinical laboratory science is preferred; GLP/GMP laboratory experience preferred.
• Associate level: AA or BS in medical technology/clinical laboratory science, or BS in biology, chemistry or related field, plus 2 years of applicable laboratory experience. Background in medical technology/clinical laboratory science is preferred; GLP/GMP laboratory experience preferred.

Work is performed in an office and a laboratory/manufacturing environment with exposure to biological fluids and potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposure to extreme cold below 32°F in production areas. Exposure to electrical equipment. Personal protective equipment required (protective eyewear, garments, gloves). Environment involves standing or sitting for 2-4 hours per day, frequent hand and finger movements, and ability to perform precise, coordinated movements.

Light to moderate lifting up to 35 lbs. Occasional walking, bending, twisting, and reaching. Color perception and near vision requirements apply. Ability to communicate complex information and follow written or oral instructions/procedures.
