Design Engineer
Job Description:
As a Design Engineer, you will apply engineering principles to support dealer-facing technical issues. You will troubleshoot, make necessary changes, and resolve issues using your basic knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience, along with 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Support dealer technical issues related to work tools using the DSN system.
- Monitor product performance to reduce warranty costs and meet customer needs worldwide.
- Cover structural, hydraulic, and electric topics, and understand the application of attachments in various industries.
- Utilize technical communication and writing skills to create dealer/customer-facing documents and support dealer phone/email inquiries for product health support.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering to implement design improvements.
- Assist Product Service Engineer to correct product deficiencies and improve product design.
- Act as a Technical Liaison between the company and dealers regarding product performance questions via the Dealer Support Network (DSN).
- Keep abreast of product performance in assigned areas of responsibility.
- Listen and solve reports from dealers on technical product problems and seek assistance from engineers.
- Define problems, research data, identify root causes, and develop plans to fix problems, including validation.
- Publish corrective actions and keep the team and dealer organization informed of product problem status.
- Prepare Failure Analysis, Parts Stocking Authorization, and Summary Reports.
- Initiate Technical Bulletins, Service Magazines, or Service Letters to notify field and dealer personnel when product problems are resolved.
- Read and interpret various service/warranty data to determine if a problem is developing and the extent of failures and warranty costs.

Skills & Qualifications
- Manage/lead DSN issue resolution
- Support CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) Black Belt Projects, ICA, PCA, issue resolution, service publications
- Support Dealer Solutions Network (DSN) inquiries by providing technical guidance/assistance to dealers
- Knowledge of engineering processes, drawing standards, specifications, and Creo & Teamcentre workflow
- Enthusiastic attitude and initiative to solve engineering problems
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects and timelines
- Ability to self‑direct and work effectively in a diverse team environment
- Ability to professionally communicate technical information with team members, dealers, customers, and suppliers
The role requires experience with off‑highway equipment or other heavy machinery. The work involves using the Cat CPI System/Process (Continuous Product Improvement) and Cat DSN System/Process (Dealer Support Network). You will engage in design, test, or failure analysis for structural fabrications & components, hydraulic and electrical systems. The work environment is dynamic, requiring the ability to work to tight deadlines and handle multiple projects concurrently.

Contract position based out of Clayton, NC.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
