Join Our Team as a Locum Physician - General Medicine NC and Make a Difference!
Are you a dedicated General Medicine Physician seeking flexible opportunities to serve Veterans across North Carolina? We invite experienced providers to join VHS as Locum Physicians, delivering essential Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments.
This role offers meaningful work, competitive compensation, and the flexibility to choose your schedule, all while supporting those who served.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interview-based and physical assessment exams for Veterans, including range of motion and muscle strength testing.
- Complete exams on a PRN basis, with the option for half-day or full-day shifts.
- Submit comprehensive reports and addendums promptly.
- Work independently at your own office location within specified service areas.
- Medical degree from an accredited institution; MD or DO.
- Valid medical license in North Carolina.
- Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or related fields.
- Experience in general medicine and familiarity with compensation and pension evaluations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform assessments accurately and efficiently.
Skills:
- Prior experience conducting Compensation & Pension exams.
- Knowledge of veterans’ healthcare or federal medical protocols.
- Proficiency with medical documentation and report writing.
- Certification in DMA or related specialties (though not required for onboarding).
Education and Experience:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Active North Carolina medical license.
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in general medicine or related specialties.
- Previous experience with veteran health assessments is advantageous.
- Provider must own and operate their own office location within designated service areas.
- Ability to perform exams on a PRN schedule, including weekends if necessary.
- Willingness to complete required training and administrative follow-up.
- Local candidates preferred; travel expenses included in rates.
- Commitment to adhering to all applicable state, federal, and local laws.
