The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for a Recreation Program Supervisor (Inclusion & Seniors) for the Parks and Recreation Department

Performs complex work in the planning and implementation of therapeutic and inclusion recreation programs and services for individuals with various disabilities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Director. This position exercises supervision over temporary, seasonal, and volunteer staff.
Responsibilities- Plans, organizes, and conducts a variety of recreation programs for seniors as well as adults, teens, and/or children with disabilities, including classes, sports programs, social gatherings, and special events.
- Secures instructors, assigns locations and fees for classes and events, and recruits instructors as needed.
- Responsible for marketing and promoting program offerings and special events.
- Coordinates and produces program guide information in the Civic Rec system; submits information and photos for seasonal brochures and social media.
- Maintains email lists of subscribers and communicates program updates.
- Coordinates staff, equipment needs, set-ups, take-downs, and clean-ups for programs and events.
- Inspects equipment regularly, orders repairs when necessary, and recommends purchases of equipment and supplies.
- Assists with the hiring, supervision, training, and evaluation of part-time and seasonal staff.
- Supports Inclusion Services within Parks and Recreation, including:
Reviewing Inclusion Support Forms and review with input from parents/caregivers, staff, and participants (when appropriate). - Observing participants in classroom, program, and league settings.
- Developing inclusion plans and working one-on-one with participants as needed.
- Monitoring effectiveness and collaborating with staff, instructors, and caregivers to meet participant needs.
- Providing supportive/adaptive materials and coordinating interpreters as needed.
- Recruits and coordinates volunteer support for programs and special events, including contacting community members and speaking at public events.
- Maintains knowledge of local agencies and resources serving seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- Assists in conducting staff training sessions, including disability awareness, sensitivity, and inclusion training.
- Attends training classes and conferences to maintain current knowledge of trends and best practices in therapeutic recreation programming.
- Oversees and assists with participant registration, recordkeeping, customer service, and other administrative duties as needed.
- Handles special projects and other related duties as assigned.
- Thorough knowledge of planning and implementing programs for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- General knowledge of equipment and supplies required for recreational programs.
- Understanding of therapeutic recreational needs for individuals with intellectual, physical, emotional, and developmental disabilities.
