Straub’s Fine Grocers is seeking an exceptional Store Director to lead our highest-volume and most profitable store. This is a flagship location with significant operational complexity, including on-site corporate offices, direct-buy warehousing that supports multiple stores, and a commissary kitchen operation.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, people-centered leader with a proven ability to run a strong business, inspire teams, and deliver best-in-class customer service. The Store Director will lead approximately 80 employees, primarily union team members, and will be expected to build trust, accountability, and engagement at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership and set the tone for a positive, inclusive, high-performance culture
  • Lead, develop, and retain strong department leaders and frontline teams
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and ensure issues are resolved promptly and professionally
  • Oversee merchandising, pricing, presentation, and execution to maximize sales and margins
  • Manage all controllable expenses with discipline and transparency
  • Establish clear goals, communicate expectations, and hold leaders accountable for results
  • Navigate and lead effectively within a union environment while fostering collaboration and trust
  • Coordinate closely with corporate leadership located on-site
  • Oversee additional operational components including direct-buy inventory storage and commissary kitchen operations
  • Drive continuous improvement, operational consistency, food safety, and compliance
  • Lead change effectively in a fast-paced, high-expectation retail environment

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of retail management experience, grocery strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading large teams in a union environment
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L responsibility
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable operating in a complex, multi-function facility
