Job Title

Sponsor Finance Relationship Manager I

Summary

The Enterprise Value Lending Group works exclusively with private equity firms and mezzanine sponsors to execute on leveraged buyouts, acquisitions, mergers and recapitalizations across the country. The AVP, Sponsor Finance will develop and manage new private equity client relationships while enhancing existing relationships. To achieve this, it is expected that the role be proactive in providing financial solutions to both existing and prospective clients.

Also responsible for developing sound and profitable business relationships, credit assessment and exceeding customer needs and expectations while complying with regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Frequently represent the bank in the private equity market; actively develop relationships with financial sponsors, C‑level execs, COIs, etc. and build a network of prospective clients to drive deal flow.
  • Build and maintain a list of targeted prospect profiles; strategize and execute a call plan to meet individual and team sales objectives.
  • Perform detailed due diligence on companies, financial sponsors, industries, management teams, and other relevant information.
  • Evaluate pertinent financial information and determine whether a credit is an acceptable risk.
  • Recommend credits outside lending authority to the next level or present to Loan Committee in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ongoing monitoring of existing loans for conformity to terms and conditions.
  • Actively participate with and assist senior lending officers on larger, more complex credits.
  • Monitor market conditions, observe competitor impact and make recommendations to maintain a competitive and profitable product line.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of all commercial products including loans, cash management, trade service products and deposits to facilitate cross‑selling and enhance the client experience.
  • Analyze financial statements, perform financial modeling and understand legal documentation involved in underwriting leveraged loans.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of private equity, capital markets, merger and acquisition structures.
  • Must have demonstrated skills in commercial credit underwriting, business development and portfolio management for lower‑middle market companies owned by private equity.
  • Must have excellent communication, presentation and tactful interpersonal skills.
  • Superb people skills to work within a team environment and successfully develop and retain client relationships.
  • Proven ability to cross‑sell other banking products, including loans, deposits and treasury management.
  • Prior experience structuring cash flow‑oriented loans.
  • Self‑motivated to work independently and take ownership.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Must be attentive to detail and accurate when analyzing financial statements and presenting a credit package for formal approval.
  • This position requires the use of sound business discretion, good judgment, and excellent problem‑solving skills.
