Description
This is the first of three levels in the Meter Reading series. Incumbents read assigned utility meters and record readings. Responsibilities may include reporting inconsistencies, discrepancies, and/or dangerous situations.
ResponsibilitiesMINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Education and Experience:
High school graduate or GED equivalent.An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job's essential duties.
License and
Certifications:
Possession of a valid driver's license.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: Basic work etiquette.
Skill in: Following written and oral instructions.
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The following physical abilities are required:
Balancing:
Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.Crouching:
Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.Feeling:
Perceiving attributes of objects by touching with skin, particularly fingertips.Fingering:
Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working with fingers.Grasping:
Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.Hearing:
Perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.Kneeling:
Bending legs at the knee to rest on knee(s).Mental Acuity:
Making rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.Reaching:
Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.Repetitive Motion:
Substantial movements of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.Speaking:
Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word with the ability to convey detailed or important instructions.Standing:
Particularly for sustained periods of time.Talking:
Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word with the ability to convey detailed or important instructions to others.Visual ability 1-5:
Sufficient to perform tasks such as data preparation, analysis, transcription, computer terminal use, color, depth perception, field vision, and inspection of small defects or parts.Walking:
Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.
