Position OverviewThe Forklift Technician is assigned to the Maintenance Department and is responsible for ensuring all forklifts are safe, well-maintained, and fully functional. This role requires adherence to all safety standards, including the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and use the appropriate tools required to perform assigned tasks.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair forklifts to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Order parts for repairs, preventative maintenance (PMs), and inventory stock.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Perform preventative maintenance according to recommended schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Maintain forklift records and schedule preventative maintenance.
- Perform minor in-house repairs using electric welders and cutting torches.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems for forklift repairs and safety equipment installation.
- Independently troubleshoot engine, fuel, ignition, and hydraulic systems.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two years of forklift repair experience or completion of vocational/technical training.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; assistance required for items over 50 pounds.
- Ability to work at heights and climb ladders.
