Retail & Store Manager
The Store Manager is responsible for playing a critical role in providing support to merchandising, operational and human resources functions for an individual store to achieve or exceed planned sales and profits. This position requires a proactive and vigilant individual who remains highly engaged with customers, demonstrates integrity, effective communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic retail setting.
The Store Manager builds a positive work culture, drives employee involvement, and supports change‑management efforts within the organization.
- Recruit, interview, hire, counsel, and terminate staff, ensuring legal compliance and internal processes.
- Maintain financial controls, including shrink, payroll, and other operating expenses.
- Maintain proper inventory controls, facilitate inventory transactions and enforce compliance standards for shrink control.
- Monitor sales activities to ensure customers receive satisfactory service.
- Direct and supervise employees engaged in sales, inventory‑taking, cash receipt reconciliation, and customer services.
- Ensure staff adherence to all Citi Trends, Inc. policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of retail experience as a Store Manager (or 5–7 years total retail experience).
- Work 45 hours per week; perform the essential physical functions listed below with or without accommodation.
- Squat, kneel, or stoop (frequently to continuously).
- Stand, bend, or walk (frequently to continuously).
- Twist (occasionally to frequently).
- Reach above shoulder (occasionally to frequently).
- Lift or carry (occasionally to frequently).
- Push or pull (occasionally to frequently).
- Use hands with manual dexterity, grasping (frequently to continuously).
