Plumbing and Pipe fitting Technical Instructor – Georgia Piedmont Technical College (GPTC).

The Plumbing and Pipe fitting Technology Instructor position in the Division of Industrial Technologies and Professional Services reports to the Division Chair. The instructor will prepare and deliver lectures and/or lab course material; prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction; evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports; ensure that safety and security requirements are met in the training area;
demonstrate a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operate effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrate trustworthiness and responsible behavior; assist with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts. Will perform other job assignments and duties as assigned by the Dean.

Essential Functions- Prepares lesson plans for classroom and laboratory instruction for specified courses.
- Organizes and conducts classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward student learning and course progress.
- Demonstrates current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas and courses to be taught, including labs.
- Accurately and timely submit required reports to the students and college.
- Instructs classes in plumbing and pipe fitting utilizing techniques and knowledge of the discipline to facilitate student learning.
- Provides appropriate means to assess student progress and provides timely feedback on lectures and labs.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve educational objectives.
- Strong oral communication skills, professional attitude, desire to help students succeed in their career goals.
- Strives to enhance instructional and learning performances.
- Ability to work well with GPTC students, people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
- Evaluates students’ progress in attaining their respective goals and objectives.
- Communicates students’ progress to students and appropriate personnel according to established guidelines.
- Accurately records pertinent information in students’ records as necessary.
- Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports to department and college.
- Complies and submits reports in a timely manner, meeting all GPTC deadlines.
- Plans and conducts outreach to the business community with a goal to develop partnerships and delivery of college services locally and regionally.
- Assists in the recruitment and registration of prospective and enrolled students.
- Maintains workforce and technical knowledge of plumbing and pipe fitting training programs including industry certifications and credentials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Associate’s degree from a national or regionally accredited college or university in plumbing, mechanical engineering or a related field. 3 to 5 years as a Plumbing Service & Repair Technician in commercial and/or residential plumbing.
Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills. Also, must be able to teach morning or evening classes based on program needs.

Preferred QualificationsMaster Plumber’s License or a Baccalaureate Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of ten years’ experience in the plumbing trade preferred. Journeyman Plumber’s License. OSHA trainer…
