As a Cook, you are not just bringing happiness by making good food but bringing the community together and creating memories for our residents and their families.

The primary purpose of your job position is to assure that quality food service is provided at all times and to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, as established by the policies and procedures under the direction of the Dining Services Director.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have, as a minimum, 2 years cooking experience in a hospital, long‑term care community, restaurant, or other food service community. Or, be a graduate of an accredited course in dietetic training approved by the American Dietetic Association.

Specific Requirements
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to connect with senior population.
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Handle personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public tactfully.
  • Possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non‑professional personnel.
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing practices.
  • Knowledge of dietary procedures and related laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to food service operations.
  • Cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, appearance of work area (inspection of service areas for sanitization, order, safety).
  • Attend and participate in continuing education programs.
  • Adhere to dress code as per community policy.
Hiring Pay Range

Minimum to Maximum: $16.00/hour – $17.50/hour
