Under the general supervision of the Public Works Director and performs line clearing and tree trimming for the City of Claremore Electric Department.

• Providing line clearing and tree trimming.
• Working as an apprentice with a foreman and trimmers as a member of a crew for trimming or removal of trees in electric easements.
• Maintaining and repairing equipment.
• Reporting all damaged electrical equipment within the system.
• Performing all other duties as assigned.

• Ability to learn to work from a bucket truck at heights up to 75 feet.
• Ability to work around and near power lines.
• Must have a Commercial Driver’s License Class “B” with air brakes (CDL) or be able to obtain one within 90 days.
• Demonstrate the ability to learn and use climbing equipment, climb and work at heights up to 100 feet, cut, trim, and prune trees.
• Willingness and ability to work extra and irregular hours, and under unusual or special working conditions such as storms, extreme temperatures, winds, darkness, etc.
• Willingness to operate chainsaws and other power equipment.
• Must possess a Valid Oklahoma State Driver’s License, and must have a valid State Class “B” CDL with air brake and standard transmission endorsement or be able to obtain one within 30 days from the date of hire; must be insurable with City’s insurance carrier.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days from the date of hire.
• Safety sensitive position subject to random drug testing and compliance with federal regulations regarding marijuana; zero tolerance policy for positive tests.

Pickup, Dump Truck, Man Lift (bucket truck), Digger Derrick, Backhoe, Chipper, Pole Climbing Equipment, Wire Cutters, Heat Sensors, Power Tools, Electrical Testing Equipment, Hotline Tools, Clamp Sticks, Portable Generator, Chainsaw, Line Tracer, Cable Tensioner, Hydraulic Pole Jack, Hydraulic Compression Tools, Phase Rotation Meters, Fault Locators, Cable Pullers, and any equipment designated as necessary to complete the tasks assigned.

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms; stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The employee frequently must lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must manage a fear of heights; be mentally and physically prepared for unforeseen emergencies; pass a physical examination; wear appropriate protective clothing/gear; be willing to remove all jewelry while on the job; and communicate and receive verbal instructions at distances up to 300 feet due to power signals and equipment surroundings.

The employee regularly works outdoors in outside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, machinery, or in high precarious places, and may be exposed to offensive smells, dust, dirt, water, fumes or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate with potential to be excessive. The employee must observe safety concerns and assist other repairers to work in safe environments.
