Urgent RN Charge Nurse – Night Shift | New Hampshire
Salary & Pay:
- Hourly Range: $36.50 – $51.38/hour
- Annual Salary Range: $75,920 – $106,784
- Shift Type:
Nights - Shift Times: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- Hours/Day: 12
- Weekend Requirements: TBD
- On Call Requirements: TBD
The RN Charge Nurse is a professional nurse who demonstrates strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and compassion for patients and teammates. This nurse provides direct patient care while overseeing unit operations throughout the assigned shift. Key responsibilities include role modeling professional nursing behaviors, demonstrating clinical competencies, applying critical thinking, and mentoring new nurses to facilitate successful transition from novice to expert.
Responsibilities- Function as a clinical/staff RN, occasionally responsible for a small patient assignment of 1–3 patients.
- Oversee LPN, RN, and LNA practice, delegating care as appropriate.
- Coordinate employee breaks, create nursing assignments, and adjust based on changing acuity or discharges/admissions.
- Assist LPNs/RNs/LNAs with patient care, monitor lab/diagnostic results, and follow up on referrals.
- Consult with departments such as pharmacy, lab, and radiology as needed.
- Report employee performance concerns and handle in-the-moment conflicts.
- Monitor charting for timely and accurate documentation.
- Communicate with nursing team members and management to coordinate unit activities (discharges, admissions, transfers).
- Act as house supervisor/main resource on off shifts (nights, weekends, holidays), coordinating bed availability and communicating with administrator on call.
- Communicate with other hospitals regarding bed availability to facilitate patient transfers.
- BLS Certification – Required
- NH RN Licensure active at time of submission – Required
- 3–5 years of relevant clinical experience – Required
- Charge RN experience – Preferred
