**** BASIC FUNCTION:
** Claremont McKenna College (CMC) is seeking an experienced leadership giving officer with the capacity to build and maintain high-impact donor relationships. This position is responsible for the qualification, cultivation and solicitation of leadership gifts from CMC alumni, parents and friends. The Leadership Giving Officer will be responsible for managing a portfolio of individuals who have the capacity to make gifts of $100,000 and above.
The Leadership Giving Officer must actively seek out opportunities, both on and off-campus, to develop and implement initiatives to ensure a strong base of high-level philanthropic support, in a cross-collaborative manner, in partnership with the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement, Annual Giving and Planned Giving.
** DESCRIPTION OF
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement, the Leadership Giving Officer and Philanthropic Advisor performs the following essential duties and responsibilities:
* Develop and implement strategies for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, closing and stewarding donor prospects in the geographically-assigned portfolio of approximately 150 prospects.
* Responsible for all direct interactions and communications with assigned prospects. This includes the solicitations of unrestricted annual gifts, Research Institute board commitments and leadership gifts of these prospects.
* Familiarize themself with regional assignments, Presidential travel, Presidential fundraising priorities and fundraising priorities from other areas of the College, in order to make a knowledgeable and persuasive presentation to donor prospects.
* Excel in a holistic approach, which uses all resources of the college, including events, college leadership, Admission, Athletics and Soll Center for Student Opportunity connections.
* Working with the Office of Institute Relations, identify and recruit advisory board members for CMC’s eleven Research Institutes and Centers.
* Collaborate with Athletics Advancement staff to cultivate and solicit financial support for athletic priorities.
* Work collaboratively with the Assistant Vice President of Advancement on prospect strategy and with the Research & Relationship management team on a regular basis.
* Maintain prospect tracking and regularly update the College’s records for each assigned constituent.
* Take the lead on special fundraising projects as they arise and are assigned.
* In collaboration with the Office of Stewardship, assist in developing a stewardship plan for donor funded named programs.
* Expectation of significant travel throughout the United States on a regional basis and possibility of some international travel.
* Expectation of evening and weekend work around College events and activities.
* Other duties related to the position as they arise.

** Bachelor’s degree required.

* EXPERIENCE:
** Five or more years of successful fundraising experience, including the solicitation of leadership level gifts and beyond. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent writing skills and ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
** REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
