The Person al Lines Product Manager has full responsibility for the P&L and all product development and pricing for Allied Trust’s homeowners, dwelling, and related product lines to support revenue growth and meet profit objectives. This role is hands‑on, directly creating and implementing new products and making enhancements to existing products. The Product Manager works closely with Underwriting, Operations, Actuarial, Marketing, and Claims to identify opportunities and address product performance needs, and operates within parameters set by the Vice President to lead strategies that ensure profitability, competitiveness, and regulatory compliance.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Has full responsibility for P&L and all product development and pricing for Allied Trust’s homeowners, dwelling, and related product lines.
  • Accountable for achieving growth, profit, and expense objectives; initiates corrective action when performance metrics or trends indicate adverse results.
  • Leads the implementation of strategies and actions, within parameters established by the Vice President, to ensure product profitability and competitiveness.
Product Development & Business Planning
  • Directly creates and implements new products and enhancements to existing products.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains a measurable and accurate business plan for all personal lines products, including written premium goals, target and expected loss ratios, product‑specific expense budgets, geographic capacity deployment, distribution strategy, and long‑term strategic plans.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Works closely with Underwriting, Operations, Actuarial, Marketing, and Claims to identify opportunities and address product performance needs.
  • Coordinates cross‑functional actions to resolve performance issues and support product objectives.
Regulatory & Compliance Management
  • Manages regulatory actions in states where products are written and initiates revisions as required, including related underwriting and processing changes.
  • Ensures product strategies and changes comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
Market & Competitive Analysis
  • Directs Marketing’s competitive intelligence efforts and maintains current knowledge of key competitors.
  • Conducts periodic analyses of competitors’ forms, rates, and rules to support growth and profitability objectives.
  • Partners with marketing to focus efforts on the most profitable products and geographic areas.
Marketing & Communication Support
  • Provides technical input and support for promotional materials, field communications, internal communications related to product changes, and state rate, rule, and form filings.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, risk management, mathematics, or a related field; equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of personal lines insurance experience creating and managing homeowners or combined auto and home products.
  • Demonstrated experience with product development, pricing, and portfolio performance management, including the use of data and analytics to improve business results.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with knowledge of pricing and rate making concepts, including loss development, IBNR, credibility and portfolio performance metrics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the organization to resolve performance issues.
  • Ability to prioritize activities and utilize resources efficiently to maximize profitability.
  • Demonstrated leadership in addressing broad, strategic business issues.
  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Self‑starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and hands‑on approach.
  • Professional insurance certifications such as CPCU or progress towards actuarial exams are a plus.
Physical Demands

Travel Requirements

This position requires minimal or no travel. Travel may occasionally occur for training, compliance events, or cross‑department meetings, but is not a routine expectation of the role.
