ACCOUNTANT – Claremont, CA

The successful candidate will coordinate and support the financial operational activities of the California Business Unit. This position is based in Claremont, CA, and reports to the California Financial Controller.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 3+ years progressive work experience in finance and accounting, ideally in an international engineering / construction company.
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products, including advanced skills in Excel.
• Previous experience with ERP systems (Oracle is a plus)
• Previous experience with Hyperion systems is a plus.
• CPA, or working towards CPA designation is a plus.
• Audit experience is a plus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides support to the Financial Controller, Assistant Controller, local management, local operational team, and answer corporate team questions as needed.
• Participate in the actual monthly close and help prepare the financial statements. This includes booking journal entries, booking the projects revenue recognition, and various analysis needed to perform the close (projects accruals, costs, billing, accounts receivable, bad debt, etc.)
• Prepare the monthly balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly provisions roll forward reporting to Headquarters.
• Monitor withholding tax balances. Liaise with Accounts Receivables and Tax Department as necessary.
• Prepare weekly / monthly reporting, including costs, man hours, utilization, etc.
• Update projects list from GEOS.
• Support Assistant Controller in preparing the project management reporting (PMR) reconciliation with general ledger data on a quarterly basis, working with Cost Controllers.
• Support Controller and Assistant Controller in the preparation of the quarterly reporting in Hyperion REP (Group Management Reporting tool).
• Support Controller and Assistant Controller in implementing procedures, monitoring internal controls, Sarbanes Oxley, and audit requirements. Prepare deliverables for external and internal auditors.
• Assist with monthly forecasting and special projects as needed.
• The candidate must be able to interact with people from multiple departments, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be attentive to detail, orderly, flexible, and be able to handle multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
• Occasional travel can occur for training or meetings.
