HDR seeks to grow its national Power Generation team and is hiring a Senior Mechanical Power Engineer to help clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects, while serving as Engineer of Record or Owner’s Engineer.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the project mechanical team and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Monitor and communicate project status; provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects on technical and contractual levels.
  • Deliverables include construction drawings, bid specifications, mechanical equipment sizing calculations, technical memos, bid evaluations, code reviews, feasibility studies, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Contribute to the design and specification of power generation systems for simple cycle, combined cycle, distributed generation, and reciprocating engines as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design.
  • Gas turbine, steam turbine, and/or large reciprocating engine experience or subject matter expertise.
  • Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation.
  • Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm is desired.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and owner’s engineer projects.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs.
  • Proficiency in working within an established schedule and budget.
  • Travel will be less than 10%.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Auto Pipe, and Revit).

The compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. The targeted salary range for this position (based on experience and location) is $108,661 - $204,250.
