citrus heights food closet-no court ordered community service we have operated as a non-profit food closet for over 40 years in the northeastern sacramento county area.
no court ordered community service-must apply using this link (if you sign up using this link, you will not receive credit for hours served)
you must submit a copy of your photo  email address to  to receive the link to complete the volunteer application before signing up for a shift. You will not be able to volunteer until an application and  on file. Once your  application are received, your shift will be approved, and you will be added to the schedule. If your shift says pending, you are not confirmed and will be contacted for further instructions.

no same day shift sign ups please the schedule is finalized at 8 pm the previous evening. If you are not signed up for a shift by then, you will not be added to the schedule. For the safety of our volunteers and clients, do not just show up for a shift without receiving confirmation you have been added to the schedule.

available volunteer opportunities (please do not sign up for more than one shift per day)

the food closet is open monday, tuesday, thursday and friday 8:30am-2:30pm (volunteer opportunities), 11:00am-1pm (food distribution) or until we run out of food, whichever comes first.

our shifts do not allow for smoking breaks. If this is something you need, please schedule yourself for a half day shift to make skipping a cigarette easier. There is no smoking allowed on the advent lutheran campus where the food closet is located. Water and restroom breaks can be taken as needed. If you step away from your station or assigned task for longer than a few minutes, please notify the shift supervisor so your vacancy can be filled.

8:30 a.m.

- 2:30 p.m. (full day shift)

bagging food, stocking shelves, sorting food, loading food into client's vehicles, cleaning after distribution

9 a.m.

- 12:30 p.m. (am shift)

loading food into clients' vehicles, bagging food, sorting food, directing traffic, checking in clients, and clean-up

population served families, homeless, low-income communities, people with disabilities, people with health-based concerns, immigrants, refugees or ethnic groups, military/veterans

requirements: age minimum (with adult): 10+ , minimum age:14+
