Position: Facility Attendant/ Facility Attendant Trainee

Under supervision, assists the public in their use of City Facilities for scheduled events; prepares facilities for use by private parties and community groups, including set up and take down of tables and chairs; performs minor maintenance and janitorial duties, sets up audio-visual systems, opens and closes the facility for daytime, evening, and weekend rentals; and provides information to potential users regarding facility rentals and scheduling.

Distinguishing Characteristics

The Facility Attendant class has two salary levels, and positions in this class are flexibly staffed. The Facility Attendant Trainee is the entry/trainee level in this class series. Initially, incumbents work under immediate supervision and are given detailed instructions in the performance of routine tasks that are more structured and repetitive than those assigned to the Facility Attendant. Facility Attendant Trainees attend training sessions and receive on-the-job instruction to learn techniques and methods of facility attending.

As skills and knowledge are developed, incumbents are expected to perform increasingly responsible and difficult assignments.

Incumbents may advance to the Facility Attendant level after demonstrating the ability to perform the full journey level duties of the class, which generally requires six months as a Facility Attendant Trainee. The Facility Attendant is the journey level in this class series, and incumbents work under direct supervision. Incumbents are expected to be proficient in performing a variety of responsible facilities and custodial work with less guidance and supervision.

Facility Attendants also train Facility Attendant Trainees on facility and rental procedures. #J-18808-Ljbffr
