Role DescriptionThis is a full-time role located in Tetbury for a Retail Manager who will be responsible for managing two shops and any pop-up retail events. Must have excellent retail experience and be willing to travel for retail events. As well as managing daily shop operations, the Retail Manager will drive sales performance and lead the retail team (currently 16 staff, comprising full-time, part-time and seasonal) to deliver excellent customer service.
Key responsibilities include managing inventory, implementing marketing promotions, controlling budgets, and ensuring health and safety compliance. Also responsible for managing sales figures, training staff, and ensuring in-store customer satisfaction. Main areas of responsibility:
- Sales & Profitability: Setting, monitoring, and achieving sales targets while analysing KPIs and managing budgets to drive revenue and hit sales targets.
- Staff Leadership: Recruiting, training, supervising, motivating, and scheduling staff to ensure high performance and compliance with company policies.
- Operations Management: Overseeing daily opening/closing procedures, maintaining store cleanliness, and ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Customer Service: Maintaining high customer service standards, resolving complaints, and fostering a positive, welcoming shopping environment.
- Inventory Control: Managing stock levels, ordering, auditing, and organizing stock replenishment to meet demand.
- Merchandising & Marketing: Implementing visual merchandising standards, promotional displays, and in-store events to increase visibility and sales.
- Proven experience in retail management or a similar leadership role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Good, data-driven business acumen (e.g., analysing sales reports).
- Proficiency in retail IT systems and Point of Sale (POS) software.
- You will be a retail professional with the ability of driving sales through exceptional customer service and commercial focus, keen to develop your career further in a new environment.
- You will have previous experience of budgeting and target setting, with proven ideas and methods to exceed sales goals and KPIs in a target-driven environment.
- Proven numeracy and IT skills with a working knowledge of Outlook. Word and Excel will also be important.
- You will have a creative approach to creating visually attractive displays and ensuring our shops are presented in a professional and engaging way for customers.
- With good judgement and initiative, you can be relied upon to work flexibly and effectively even when deadlines are challenging and circumstances change.
- With strong leadership skills, you will be familiar with recruitment and training processes, and eager to lead a team from the front, developing and encouraging those around you to get the best out of them.
