Shift pay starts from £14.76 per hour and rises to £15.97 in stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.

New colleagues are offered a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week. If you’d prefer to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12), we have opportunities available.

The weekly availability window shows the periods when the store would like you to be available. We schedule contracted hours within these times and provide 3 weeks’ notice of shifts. Customer Focus

As a Shift Leader you’ll support store operations, oversee the shop floor, and help deliver a great shopping experience for customers, colleagues and communities.

As a Shift Leader you will:

  • Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
  • Take ownership of running duty shifts and coordinate the team to maintain a clean, well-stocked store
  • Be available to assist customers and ensure they leave with what they came for
  • Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback
  • Guide and support colleagues in-store to maintain a safe place to work and shop
  • Understand store performance and assist managers in driving improvements
  • Lead from the front and set a positive example

You will be responsible for

  • Coordinating the store team to deliver a smooth shopping experience
  • Supporting colleagues in delivering daily priorities and breaks
  • Opening/closing the store and duty cover with safety in mind
  • Acting as the go-to person in the absence of a manager
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and well-presented store
  • Supporting seasonal, community and charity events
  • Fostering an inclusive team atmosphere
  • Providing excellent customer service by listening to customers
  • Keeping the team informed of communications and updates
  • Staying knowledgeable about store performance and driving improvements
  • Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to great service
  • Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same
  • Recognising and celebrating colleagues for great service
