Summary

This is a Level 3 AAT Apprenticeship role – split 80/20 between working and learning. The employer gains valuable hands‑on skills, and the apprentice learns & gains qualifications with Solveway Apprenticeships.

Wage

£14,723 a year (ranging from £14,722.50 to £18,000 for the first 12 months, rising to at least the national minimum wage thereafter).

Hours

Monday‑Thursday 8:45 am–5:00 pm, Friday 8:45 am–4:00 pm – 38 hours a week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer all telephone calls on behalf of clients, send emails and details to clients.
  • Upload all supplier invoices into Auto‑Entry for all appropriate clients.
  • Match bank payments and receipts on client accounts.
  • Bank reconciliation for allocated clients.
  • Responsible for post and emailing to client & shredding all documents.
  • Credit control for allocated clients.
  • Assist and understand VAT returns.
  • Enter salary journals for allocated clients.
  • Keep a log of all new learning (CPD).

  • Comfortable working in a small, close‑knit team within a friendly office environment.
  • Interest in accountancy support work (this role does not involve auditing).
  • A‑level in maths is preferred.

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation's standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double‑entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements, and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with the production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non‑finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
Training schedule
  • Training will be one day a week with live online learning delivered by our qualified AAT tutors.
  • Full support with a work coach to ensure a positive and successful experience on the apprenticeship programme.

  • GCSE English (grade
    4).
  • GCSE Maths (grade
    6).
