The Senior Inventory Specialist is required to communicate with all Rumpke locations and outside vendors in a professional and business‑like manner. This position is responsible for setting up new material numbers, daily fuel quote, desk audits, cycle counting and audits in outlying locations and other duties as assigned. The Senior Inventory Specialist is responsible for the accumulation and assembly of information required to produce a report needed for the month‑end reporting.
Responsibilities- Assist in managing the material master in SAP application, including but not limited to material creation, purchase information record creation and changes, clean‑up projects, and internal user support
- Perform troubleshooting and testing on inventory‑related issues and enhancements in SAP
- Assist outlying locations with cleanup projects, organization of parts rooms, training inventory specialists and additional support needs as requested
- Perform cycle counts, desk audits, random audits, and scheduled inventory audits as required
- Assist with recalling and processing slow‑moving inventory transferred to corporate parts from outlying locations
- Receive and verify inbound and outbound shipments from vendors and outlying locations, ensuring accuracy of part numbers, quantities, and pricing. Process, track, and maintain outbound deliveries, pick tickets, and standard and transfer purchase orders within SAP
- Generate and distribute the daily fuel quote and track daily price averages for trending and forecasting needs
- Complete daily fuel uploads and month‑end reporting by deadlines
- Provide internal customer support, including but not limited to inventory or invoicing issues and parts room assistance
- Manage the department’s general email box, responding promptly and professionally to requests and inquiries
- Provide back‑up for Driver(s) and other department team members as needed
- Perform routine housekeeping duties in the warehouse and work areas
- Perform other duties as assigned
This position will not manage employees.
Skills & Abilities- Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Self‑motivated; capable of working independently
- Proven problem‑solving skills
- Computer proficiency with good data entry skills, proficiency in MS Office, SAP and vendor sites as necessary
- Ability to work well under pressure, take initiative, and be flexible and cooperative
- Ability to follow and to motivate others to follow standard purchasing procedures and policies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
- Ability to critically think to detect errors, assess impacts, and take corrective action to ensure accuracy and operational continuity
- 3–5 years inventory experience in waste industry, vehicle parts or equipment supply required
- General knowledge of office functions
- Often lifting/carrying up to a max of 50 lbs
- Often pushing/pulling up to a max of 50 lbs
- Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
- Occasionally climbing and/or balancing
- Continuously working inside and outside and changing temperatures
- Frequently working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
- Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
- Ability to travel between offices, as required
- Ability to work flexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
- Must successfully complete pre‑employment testing
- Must be able to read and speak the English language
