Overview
Responsibilities revolve around overseeing the Girls Softball Program, including game management, training, and mentorship of student-athletes. The role includes ensuring safety, compliance with district and state requirements, and representing the program positively in school activities.
Responsibilities- Oversee the entire Girls Softball Program.
- Be knowledgeable about the game, particularly game management and rules.
- Develop, monitor, supervise, and train student-athletes to play Softball.
- Develop and execute an effective training program.
- Motivate and mentor student-athletes on and off the field.
- Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training for individual and team success.
- Instruct and guide student-athletes to cultivate moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
- Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
- Cooperate with the School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department on information requests as needed.
- Meet the requirements mandated by the District Board of Education, OHSAA, and ODE relative to Coaching Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and the PAP.
- Check the academic eligibility of prospective student-athletes.
- Follow District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and the job description.
- Model the behavior expected of student-athletes, including timeliness, positivity, respect, and constructive criticism while upholding program disciplines.
- Maintain suitable sideline conduct and appropriate language at all times.
- Accept and act on constructive criticism to improve coaching performance.
- Implement applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, superintendents, principals, conferences, ODE, and OHSAA.
- Schedule and complete a full season of contests including State Tournament Games.
- Provide in-season training rules and any applicable out-of-season conduct guidelines to student-athletes before the season; follow due process for violations.
- Participate in clinics and other programs to improve coaching performance.
- Participate in school events (Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.).
- Ensure the team is well-prepared for opponents.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Fundraising experience.
- Must be passionate and dedicated to inspire student-athletes.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with softball.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes; serve as a positive role model.
- Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
- Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school and/or college level is required.
- Provide satisfactory results of County Police Checks, State BCII Check, and FBI Background Check.
- Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
- Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.
