Position Summary

Finneytown High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Softball Coach, preferably with pitching experience, to support the development of our softball program. This position works closely with the Head Coach to foster a positive, competitive, and educational environment that supports student-athletes both on and off the field.
The ideal candidate is committed to player development, teamwork, and sportsmanship and understands the role of athletics in the school's overall educational mission.
Primary Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting daily practices
• Provide specialized instruction in pitching mechanics, conditioning, and game strategy (preferred)
• Support skill development for all players, including position-specific fundamentals
• Assist with game preparation, in-game coaching, and post-game evaluations
• Promote a culture of accountability, respect, and academic responsibility
• Help monitor and support student-athlete academic progress and eligibility
• Supervise athletes during practices, games, and team travel
• Assist with program operations such as equipment management, field setup, and communication
• Model positive leadership and uphold Finneytown Local School District policies and athletic expectations

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous softball coaching experience at the middle school, high school, club, or collegiate level
• Pitching experience as a coach or former player (strongly preferred)
• Knowledge of current softball rules, techniques, and training methods
• Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, and staff
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills

Required Qualifications

• Ability to meet all Ohio Department of Education and Finneytown Local School District coaching requirements
• Completion of required background checks, certifications, and coaching credentials
• Commitment to the academic and personal growth of student-athletes

Work Schedule

• Seasonal position aligned with the high school softball season
• Includes after-school practices, evening games, weekends, and occasional travel
