Overview
The HVAC Installation Technician supports the installation of residential and/or light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals beginning their HVAC career who are eager to learn the trade, develop technical skills, and gain hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced technicians. The technician assists with equipment installation, jobsite preparation, and system setup while adhering to safety and quality standards.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Assist in the installation of HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, thermostats, and related components
- Support senior technicians with jobsite setup, material handling, and equipment staging
- Follow installation plans, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures
- Perform basic measurements, cutting, and material assembly as instructed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Properly use, maintain, and care for tools, equipment, and company vehicles
- Learn and follow local building codes, safety regulations, and HVAC best practices
- Communicate professionally with team members and, when appropriate, customers

RequiredSkills and Abilities
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools
- Ability to follow instructions, safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and jobsite environments
- Strong communication skills with a positive, professional attitude
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior HVAC or construction experience preferred but not required
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs, with or without assistance
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders for extended periods
- Ability to work in confined spaces, including attics, basements, crawlspaces, and rooftops
- Manual dexterity to safely operate tools and handle small components
- Visual and auditory ability to safely perform installation tasks and identify hazards
- Ability to safely operate and drive a vehicle
