Position: Diesel Mechanic / Service Technician – 2nd Shift (3–5 yrs exp, CDL preferred)

Description

The primary function of the Service Technician is to diagnose and complete repairs on heavy and medium duty trucks. The individual will perform a variety of tasks on heavy‑duty trucks, large construction vehicles, buses and tractor trailers, including inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, installation, and repair of components, engines, and systems related to these vehicles.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform recommended routine maintenance procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic tests for issues, failures, and performance.
  • Determine a course of action for damaged parts and systems.
  • Routinely use computerized equipment and specialized tooling.
  • Complete assigned repairs and tasks in a timely and safe manner.
  • Accurately record time, cause, and correction on Repair Orders.
  • Test components that may require driving trucks before and after repairs.
  • Participate and complete technical training and professional development.

Computer Skills

Knowledge of basic computer skills and Repair Order Processing Software.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate office equipment or a PC and mechanical tools such as wrenches, sockets, grips, air tools, and other basic shop tools.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach to perform tasks on truck components.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs – 150 lbs unassisted.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, due to tools and engine noise.
