- Oversee all site activity related to manpower, materials, and scheduling, serving as the primary contact for the customer, general contractor, and ownerэта.
- Prioritize safety: conduct pre‑safety meetings, weekly safety reports, and toolbox talks; hold a minimum OSHA 30‑hour certification.
- Perform pre‑planning for new jobs by reviewing plans and specs, identifying prefabrication opportunities, and determining crew size, tools, and equipment needed.
- Direct coordination tasks: review drawings with the CAD designer before printing, sign off on drawings for the FAB shop, and attend all coordination meetings involving the company’s scope of work.
- Minimize downtime by scheduling work for employees, other trades, and subcontractors; lay out tasks one week in advance and ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are on‑site when required.
- Monitor productivity by checking estimates versus actual installation; use the Four‑Week Look‑Ahead and set team goals to improve efficiency, rewarding achievements.
- Handle all orders and deliveries, ordering only what is needed and keeping returns to a minimum; follow up on back‑orders and release purchase orders as necessary.
- Communicate weekly with the Project Managerexists covering productivity, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and manpower issues.
- Manage personnel, subcontractors, and vendors to build teamwork and morale through fair and honest decision‑making.
- Close out each job by ensuring all final testing is completed, startup steps are signed off by the owner, valve tag charts and stenciling are finished, as‑built drawings are turned over, and punch‑lists are signed off.
- Clean up and demobilize each job: return excess material to suppliers, sweep and mop trailers, and prepare a final report for the Project Manager.
- Execute any other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 10 years commercial experience in field plumbing, sprinkler, or heating operations.
- Stable work history.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.
- Skill to fabricate offsets.
- Proficient with hand and power tools.
- Can perform basic take‑offs.
- Can install equipment.
- Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good math skills.
- High School or GED equivalent.
- Trade school a plus.
- Eyesight correctable to 20/50.
- Capability to work long hours on feet.
- Ability to lift, climb ladders and scaffolds.
- Willingness to perform shift work.
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must not be afraid of heights.
- Valid driver’s license.
- State/Journeyman trade license.
- Must provide own basic hand tools.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery.
- CPR certification.
- OSHA 30 certification.
