The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology Oncology is seeking a full-time Research Associate in the Leukemia and Drug Development Laboratory (LDDL). This individual will primarily assist the Murine Research Team within the LDDL.
Essential Functions
- Contribute to collective team effort.
- Organize research results and data according to good laboratory management practices.
- Handling and restraining of murine models for basic colony maintenance:
- General husbandry, sex determination and weaning
- Ear tagging and ear/tail snips for genotyping
- Oral gavage and/or intraperitoneal injection for drug delivery
- Bleeding (via cheek stick), anesthesia and euthanasia
- Specimen processing (necropsy and tissue harvesting)
- Murine tail vein injections
- Understanding the murine models used in the LDDL (i.e. breeding strategies, transgene models and expected phenotypes, and general colony maintenance).
- Experience using software to track and maintain murine colonies.
- May cross train with molecular biology techniques:
- PCR based genotyping
- Preparing single cell suspensions from spleen and bone marrow
- Flow cytometry for monitoring tumor development
- General cell culture techniques
Bachelor's Degree required in a related field.

- 5+ years' experience in research animal handling.
- May require experience with specialized software programs.
