The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology Oncology is recruiting for a full‑time Research Assistant in the Leukemia and Drug Development Laboratory (LDDL). This Research Assistant would primarily assist the Murine Research Team within the LDDL.

• Contribute to collective team effort.
• Organize research results and data according to good laboratory management practices.
• Handle and restrain murine models for basic colony maintenance, including: general husbandry, sex determination and weaning, ear tagging and ear/tail snips for genotyping, oral gavage and/or intraperitoneal injection for drug delivery, bleeding (via cheek stick), anesthesia and euthanasia, specimen processing (necropsy and tissue harvesting).
• Become versed in the murine models used in the LDDL (i.e., breeding strategies, transgenic models and expected phenotypes, and general colony maintenance).
• May train staff in murine handling techniques.
• May cross‑train with molecular biology techniques, such as: PCR‑based genotyping, preparing single‑cell suspensions from spleen and bone marrow, flow cytometry for monitoring tumor development, general cell‑culture techniques.
• May help plan experiments and short‑term goal setting regarding murine models.
• Act as liaison between UC’s Veterinary staff and laboratory personnel.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.
