Job OverviewAs one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best‑in‑class health care professionals and developing cutting‑edge procedures and research that improve the health and clinical care of patients. The Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery is looking for a Sr. Research Assistant to assist with the coordination of laboratory projects or research studies in a particular discipline, making independent contributions based on professional training and experience.
EssentialFunctions
- Independently perform experiments and record data according to research protocols.
- May maintain and oversee animal colony management and animal husbandry.
- Solve problems using combined research knowledge.
- Analyze research results, interpret data, and assist in judging validity of data.
- Organize data search and analysis procedures.
- Assist in establishing test controls, criteria, and research standards.
- Assist with the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data.
- Accomplish assigned results for projects/studies or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments.
- Serve as a seasoned professional.
- May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non‑exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, approve time off, etc.).

- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of the education requirement.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.
