Job Overview
A full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Czyzyk-Krzeska in the Department of Cancer Biology and the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center, located in the Vontz Center for Molecular Studies. Dr. Czyzyk-Krzeska is a physician-scientist internationally recognized for work on clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), and the laboratory integrates state-of-the-art molecular biology, cell-based and animal models, and advanced systems-biology multiomics approaches to investigate mechanisms of ccRCC progression and to develop prognostic and predictive biomarkers.
A major research focus centers on cancer metabolism and the role of metals-particularly trace element copper-in regulating tumor cell metabolism and behavior (Cancer Discovery, 2025, PMID: ). The research environment is highly collaborative and includes faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and external collaborators across molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, chemistry, and medical oncology.
This multidisciplinary setting provides outstanding opportunities for high-quality training, access to cutting-edge technologies, and strong individualized mentoring toward scientific independence. The position is ideal for highly motivated candidates with a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in a relevant field who seek to lead impactful projects, develop a strong publication record, and advance their career in cancer research.
Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee.
Essential Functions
- Conduct research experiments in a particular field within the pre-determined research scope and methodology.
- Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
- Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
- Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
- Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
- Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.
- May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff.
- Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
- Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.

Doctoral degree (PhD or MD) in Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology, Cell Biology, Genomics, Chemistry or a related field, or the recognized terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent.
