Research Assistant

Kelly Outsourcing Consulting Group has an opening for a Research Assistant for a long-term engagement at one of our Global medical device clients in Cincinnati, Ohio. The role is eligible for medical benefits, paid time off including vacation (PTO), and holidays, 401K, and annual performance reviews. The Kelly OCG team supports Preclinical Research in Vivarium operations and includes twenty team members.

  • Schedule :
    On-site Monday through Friday

  • 7am to 330pm

  • Pay is $26-33 an hour depending on experience

  • Purpose of Position

  • To assist in research and testing which support development of products or procedures, collect, and manage data, provide technical surgical assistance during animate and inanimate labs, and coordinate appropriate project/study logistics while ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance.

  • Responsibilities

  • Develop study related documentation which meets GLP, SOP, and protocol requirements to include,

  • Develop study specific data sheets

  • Study Binder set up as needed

  • Pre-Study Meeting Setup

  • Animal Related Documentation

  • Coordination of appropriate project/study logistics to include:

  • Request study specific equipment and instrumentation

  • Work with study coordinator to request and schedule studies to meet project timelines

  • Place animal orders in accordance with protocol and study schedule

  • Request ordering of appropriate animal related drugs to fulfill protocol and SOP requirements

  • Coordinate receipt, submission, and transfer of test and/or control articles

  • Support the conduct of histopathology work tasks including the management, transfer, and receipt of histology specimens to an external laboratory

  • Test/Control Article Dispensary

  • Data collection and verification

  • Support the study director in addressing QAU audit findings

  • Final Data Review & Reporting Document Prep

  • Final Reporting Document Prep

  • Interface with principal investigators and contributing scientists in support of studies conducted on-site and at a contract laboratory

  • Interact with internal and external partners and regulatory agencies

  • Acts as Test Article Dispensary Clerk when assigned

  • Ensure the highest standards of biomedical research and development are upheld and carried out by meeting the standards of USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), AAALAC (Association of Assessment & Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care), DEA, Animal Use Policies & GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) regulations

  • Qualifications (Skills & Competencies)

  • Knowledge of both human and animal anatomy/physiology

  • Experience working with large animals, preferably in a laboratory/research/veterinary setting

  • Surgical support experience; comfortable assisting at the table during surgical procedures

  • Experience working in a GLP regulated environment

  • The ability to understand and precisely follow Standard Operating Procedures

  • Meticulous eye for detail; able to spot minor discrepancies/errors and immediately act to correct them

  • Strong background in data collection, data management, and data integrity

  • Able to set priorities and use time wisely to meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong organization and project management skills

  • Safety-minded in the way you organize your work space and conduct yourself

  • Accountable for one’s own actions and work; accepting the consequences of one’s behavior; able to admit mistakes

  • Basic computer proficiency;
    Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and/or interpersonal communication skills

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology, Animal Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other closely related STEM field.

  • Preferred, but not required:
    Surgical Research Specialist (SRS) certification
